We are doing things differently…
In 2021 we are exploring as a church how to best inspire and equip people to live really intentionally in all of life. Our hunch is that we can do that more effectively, in part, by thinking differently about Sunday gatherings – holding onto what makes it so good, while making margin for more.
So, we are trialling two kinds of Sundays at GRLC in a fortnightly rhythm.
Our hope is that both kinds of Sundays work together in the inspiring and equipping of our Church, and the advancing of Jesus’ mission

A day together, focused on God and his Word.
- Focus our hearts in worship to God
- Align our lives around God’s word together
- Celebrate how God is at work through his people
- Enjoy being a part of a large and diverse community faith

A day focussed on people and practice.
A day to remind us that discipleship is about people and practice every day. We start this day in the simplicity of prayer and worship for all generations from 9am at the Life Centre in Peakhurst. Unplugged worship and uncomplicated prayer is the vibe, plus some time to connect before we move out into the day’s opportunities to love and serve others.
We encourage the whole church to be really intentional on this day in either;
- Growing relationships that build community and lead others toward Jesus
- Mobilising around causes and compassionate action
- Equipping in specific ways for specific parts of daily life.
- Family discipleship for those with children at home
What could Practice Sunday look like for me?
We will host some opportunities each time for you to join in with, but we are encouraging you to discover your own expressions of putting faith into practice. Here are some thoughts…
- Join us at Peakhurst to start the day in prayer and worship at 9am.
- Join a special event that the whole church is participating in.
- Join a course at GRLC to help get equipped for a specific part of your daily life.
- Join in with Life Care and become a friend to some of our clients
- Accompany someone doing an Alpha Course or similar.
- Visit or help out someone either within or beyond church who is isolated or frail.
- Young families meeting up in a park with kids and inviting other families to join in.
- Parents watching the River Kids weekly online content together at home.
- Join something happening in your local community and build new connections.
- Have a meal with your small group and invite others to join in.
- Have that lunch with the neighbours that you’ve been talking about for ages.
- Have a coffee with someone who stopped going to church.
- Meeting as your small group on this day.
